What are field boots in equestrianism?
They are popularly known as Wellington boots, rain boots, or rubber boots. They are waterproof, easy to clean, and mud-resistant. They are not designed for riding (the heel is very flat, and the sole has grip), but they are perfect for stable work.

Can you ride in field boots?
It is not recommended for serious riding. The grippy sole can get caught in the stirrup, and the flat heel does not provide correct support. For leisure rides or beginners, a country boot with a small heel may suffice. For training and lessons, always use approved riding boots or jodhpur boots.
Maintenance of rubber boots
- Wash with water and neutral soap after each use in mud.
- Air dry, never next to direct heat sources.
- Store upright with boot trees to prevent deformation.
- Apply rubber conditioner every 3-4 months.
