Are there airbags for young children?
Until recently, riding airbags only existed from adult size M (minimum weight ~40-50 kg). The technical reason is that airbag gas needs enough body volume to expand safely.
In 2024-2026, some brands like Hit Air have developed models for young riders from 8-10 years old and youth sizes (S Junior).

The helmet remains the first line of defense
For any child, the most important safety element remains a well-fitting VG1 or EN 1384 approved helmet. No airbag or body protector can compensate for an inadequate helmet. The helmet comes first, always.

- Invest in a Level 3 protective vest for children in cross country or show jumping.
