Many horse owners confuse a stable rug with an turnout rug. They are two completely different garments with distinct functions. Using the wrong one can harm your horse.
Stable Rug
Designed for use in the stall or stable, in a protected and dry environment:

- Function: Warmth on cold nights inside the stall. Does not protect from rain.

- Fastenings: Usually only has chest straps, sometimes without leg straps.
Turnout Rug
Designed for horses that live outdoors or spend time outside:
- Material: Waterproof nylon exterior with varying internal weights.
- Function: Protection against rain, wind, and cold. Waterproof.
- Weight: 0g (sheet with no fill) to 400g (extreme winter).
- Fastenings: Chest straps, cross surcingles, leg straps.
