Waterproof Horse Rain Sheets: 2026 Buying Guide
A good horse rain sheet is essential if your animal lives outdoors or spends time in the paddock. The key is to find the right balance between waterproofing, breathability, and durability.
What makes a good rain sheet?
- High water column: Minimum 1,500 mm for moderate rain. For rainy areas (Galicia, Basque Country), 2,000+ mm is better.
- Breathability: The sheet must allow water vapor to escape from the body to prevent the horse from sweating underneath. Look for at least 1,500 g/m²/24h.
- Taped seams: Seams are the weak point of any waterproof garment. Taped seams are the most resistant.
- Rip-stop: Fabric with a reinforced grid that prevents a tear from spreading.
