Basic Equipment for Children in Horse Riding
1. Children's Riding Helmet (MANDATORY)
The helmet is the most important piece of riding equipment, regardless of age. For children, it is absolutely mandatory in all equestrian activities.
- Certification: check the declared standards and markings for the model and applicable regulations
- Recommended: ASTM F1163 or PAS015 for greater protection
- Fit: It should be firm, with no more than 2 fingers able to move under the visor
- Replace every: 5 years or after any significant impact
2. Junior Trousers or Jodhpurs
For children, jodhpurs (trousers with a flared bottom) worn with ankle boots are recommended. They are more practical than breeches for young children.

4. Safety Vest
Although not always mandatory, it is especially recommended for jumping and field work. Air-bag vests are the most modern and safest option.

5. Junior Riding Gloves
Protect hands from cold and rein chafing. They should be snug but with good tactile sensitivity.
