How to Measure Your Equestrian Helmet Size — Step-by-Step Guide

This is our step-by-step guide to measuring your riding helmet size. We created it based on the most frequently asked questions from our customers at our physical store in A Coruña and via WhatsApp.

What you need

  • Soft measuring tape (sewing)
  • Mirror

Detailed steps

Step 1: Position the measuring tape

Take a soft measuring tape and place it around your head, passing approximately 1 cm above your eyebrows and over your ears.

Step 2: Keep the tape horizontal

Make sure the tape is parallel to the ground all the way around. If it's tilted, the measurement will be inaccurate.

Step 3: Read the circumference

Write down the exact measurement in centimeters where the tape closes. For example: 56 cm.

Step 4: Repeat 2 more times

Repeat the measurement two more times to confirm. If the measurements differ, take the larger one.

Step 5: Consult the size chart

The measurement in cm is directly the helmet size. 54 cm = size 54, 56 cm = size 56, etc. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one — it can always be adjusted with extra pads.

Step 6: Check the fit

When you receive the helmet, make sure it doesn't move when you shake your head but also doesn't squeeze to the point of discomfort after 5-10 minutes.

  • Don't rush the measurement/placement: every minute invested here prevents discomfort for the horse or rider.
