Detailed steps

Step 1: Place the horse on a flat surface

Make sure the horse is standing upright with its legs parallel on a flat surface.

Step 2: Locate the starting point

Place one end of the measuring tape in the center of the horse's chest, right where the halter hangs when stabled.

Step 3: Run the tape along the side

Run the tape along the horse's side, following the natural line of the body, passing over the croup.

Step 4: Reach the base of the tail

End the measurement at the base of the tail, where the tail hair begins.

Step 5: Read the measurement in cm

The total measurement in centimeters is directly the blanket size. For example, 140 cm = blanket size 140.

Step 6: Check the range

Common sizes range from 95 cm (small ponies) to 175 cm (large horses). If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger one: a short blanket can cause rubbing.
