Main features

  • Head protection equipment for horse riding.
  • In-molded carbon fiber shell, low-density EPS core, and detachable temporal protection.
  • Approved according to EN 1384:2023 (current European standard, which integrates VG1) and ASTM F1163-23.

Head protection equipment is mandatory in federated competitions. This model is approved according to the European standard EN 1384:2023—which replaces the 2017 version and integrates VG1—and the American standard ASTM F1163-23.

New generation protection

The Voronoï Carbon combines three barriers into a single structure, and this layered construction is what explains its impact resistance:

  • Carbon fiber outer shell. Layers of interwoven fiber, a high-tech material with exceptional impact resistance.
  • In-molding. A polycarbonate sheet over-molded onto the inner shell, which adds one more protective barrier between the outer casing and the EPS. Freejump took the idea from bicycle and ski helmets.
  • EPS core. The carbon and in-molding allow the use of a low-density expanded polystyrene foam inside, one of the most absorbent on the market. An integrated rib between the top of the shell and the temporal area reinforces the structure and provides crush resistance well above the standard.
  • Temporal protection. The Voronoï is the first riding helmet with temple protection. It is detachable and can be reassembled.

Why it protects the temples

The temporal area accounts for 80% of serious brain injuries. Behind the temporal bone is the meningeal artery: a minor trauma can damage it, form a hematoma, and compress brain cells. The Voronoï is the only helmet that treats this area specifically, absorbing the shock wave and distributing it over a wide surface.

Freejump recommends choosing the full configuration, with temporal protection, both for safety and because it allows the attachment of the Freejump Intercom by Cardo. If you choose the helmet without it, the temporal protection can be added later.

Protection against rotational impact is covered since the work of the WG11 group, without added gimmicks.

Lightness, ventilation, and comfort

  • Weight: about 500g without the lower temporal protection, with liner and long visor; about 600g with it.
  • Ventilation: two inlets in the outer shell, front and back, and 20 openings in the inner shell. The Voronoï pattern, of irregular geometric cells, is not just aesthetic: each cell is positioned to maximize both resistance and airflow.
  • Inner liner: high-quality Italian fabric. It is removable and washable at 30°C and air-dried.
  • An ABS half-moon clipped to the front edge of the liner directs airflow as it enters the helmet through two openings.
  • Customizable: shell, in-molding, ear loops, vents and their grilles, and visor.

Approvals and independent rating

  • EN 1384:2023 — current European standard, which replaces the 2017 version and integrates VG1.
  • ASTM F1163-23 (SEI) — American standard.
  • 3 out of 5 stars in the Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings, with a score of 4.21 in the evaluation published by the independent Virginia Tech laboratory, which is the one that subjects helmets to the most demanding tests in the industry.
  • Made in France, in Freejump's own workshop.

For helmets, the circumference of the head is measured with a soft tape measure, approximately 1 cm above the eyebrows and above the ears. The measurement in cm corresponds to the size.

Care and maintenance

Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Inner pads, if removable, should be hand washed. It is not recommended to use solvents or put it in a washing machine.

Frequently asked questions

When should it be replaced?

As a general recommendation, after any strong impact, a helmet should be replaced even if it does not show visible external damage. After several years of use (5 years as a common reference), materials also lose their absorption capacity.

How is the head size measured?

With a soft tape measure, around the head, approximately 1 cm above the eyebrows and above the ears. The measurement in centimeters corresponds to the helmet size.

How is it cleaned?

Externally with a damp cloth and mild soap. The inner pads, if removable, can be washed by hand. It is not recommended to use solvents or put it in a washing machine.

What standards does this helmet meet?

Freejump declares the European standard EN 1384:2023—which replaces the 2017 version and integrates VG1—and the American standard ASTM F1163-23. In addition, the independent Virginia Tech laboratory grants it 3 out of 5 stars.

Can I buy it without temporal protection and add it later?

Yes. The temporal protection is detachable and reattachable, and can be added later. Even so, Freejump recommends the full configuration, both for safety and because it is what allows the attachment of the Freejump Intercom by Cardo.

How much does it weigh?

About 500g without the lower temporal protection, with liner and long visor, and about 600g with it.

Can the liner be washed?

Yes. The inner liner is removable and washed at 30°C and air-dried naturally.
