Next-generation protection

The Voronoï Carbon combines three barriers into a single structure, and this layered construction is what accounts for its impact resistance:

• Carbon fiber outer shell. Layers of interwoven fiber, a high-tech material with exceptional impact resistance.
• In-molding. A polycarbonate sheet overmolded onto the inner shell, adding an extra protective barrier between the outer casing and the EPS. Freejump drew inspiration from cycling and ski helmets.
• EPS core. The carbon and in-molding allow for the use of a low-density expanded polystyrene foam on the inside, one of the most absorbent on the market. A rib integrated between the top of the shell and the temporal area reinforces the structure and provides crush resistance far exceeding the standard.
• Temple protection. The Voronoï is the first riding helmet with temple protection. It is detachable and can be reassembled.

Why it protects the temples

The temporal area is the site of 80% of severe brain injuries. Behind the temporal bone lies the middle meningeal artery: a minor trauma can damage it, forming a hematoma and compressing brain cells. The Voronoï is the only helmet that specifically targets this area, absorbing the shock wave and distributing it over a wide surface.

Freejump recommends choosing the full configuration with temple protection, both for safety reasons and because it is the setup that allows for the attachment of the Freejump Intercom by Cardo. If you choose the helmet without it, the temple protection can be added later.

Rotational impact protection is covered based on the work of the WG11 group, without added gimmicks.

Lightness, ventilation, and comfort

• Weight: approx. 500g without the lower temple protection, with liner and long visor; approx. 600g with it.
• Ventilation: two inlets in the outer shell (front and back) and 20 openings in the inner shell. The Voronoï pattern, with its irregular geometric cells, is not just aesthetic: each cell is positioned to maximize both resistance and airflow.
• Inner liner: high-quality Italian fabric. It is removable and washable at 30°C, air-dry only.
• A clip-on ABS crescent moon on the front edge of the liner directs airflow into the helmet through two openings.
• Customizable: shell, in-molding, ear loops, openings and their grids, and visor.

The Voronoï has three shell sizes (S, M, and L) and the fine adjustment is provided by the inner liner, which ranges from 52 to 62 cm. This is why the size is written by combining the two figures (for example, 56M is shell M with a 56 cm liner):

Care and maintenance

Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Inner pads, if removable, should be hand-washed. The use of solvents or machine washing is not recommended.

When should it be replaced?

As a general recommendation, after any major impact, a helmet should be replaced even if there are no visible external damages. After several years of use (5 years as a common benchmark), materials also lose their absorption capacity.

How is the head size measured?

With a soft tape measure around the head, approximately 1 cm above the eyebrows and above the ears. The measurement in centimeters corresponds to the helmet size.
