How to choose the right size

A tall riding boot is not chosen only by foot size. Three measurements are needed, and that is exactly what prevents the most returns:

• Foot length, from toe to heel while standing.
• Height, from the ground to the hollow behind the knee.
• Calf circumference, at its widest point.

Measure yourself wearing your riding breeches, not jeans or bare legs: the difference is several centimeters and is the most common cause for a boot not closing. Do it in the afternoon, as the foot and calf swell during the day.

This model is also sold by shaft width: Calf Xs, Calf Xl, Calf S, Calf M, Calf L, Calf Xxs. Choose it according to your leg measurement, not by foot size.

Several brands manufacture the same model in different shaft widths as separate references. If the calf circumference is tight, look for the wide version before going up in foot size.

The leather stretches somewhat in circumference with use and the shaft drops a few millimeters as the ankle creases form, but it does not stretch in foot length: do not compensate for a short size hoping it will stretch. If in doubt between two, choose the larger one.
