How to choose the right size

A tall riding boot is not chosen by shoe size alone. Three measurements are needed, and these are exactly what prevents the most returns:

  • Foot length, from toe to heel and while standing.
  • Height, from the floor to the hollow behind the knee.
  • Calf circumference, at its widest point.

Measure yourself wearing your riding breeches, not jeans or bare legs: the difference is several centimeters and is the most common reason why a boot won't close. Do it in the afternoon, as the foot and calf swell during the day.

Sizes for this model: 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40.

Several brands manufacture the same model in different shaft widths as separate references. If the calf circumference is a tight fit, look for the wide version before going up a foot size.

Leather yields slightly in circumference with use, and the shaft drops a few millimeters as creases form at the ankle, but it does not stretch in foot length: do not compensate for a small size hoping it will stretch. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.

This boot has a rugged look thanks to the coarse texture of the shaft material and the zipper piping. The outer calf is made of elastic synthetic leather; the inner calf and the foot are made of genuine leather.

Care

Remove mud as soon as you finish riding, before it dries. Clean with a damp cloth and, occasionally, apply a specific moisturizing product for leather.

Let them air dry, away from radiators and direct sunlight, and store them upright with boot trees or shapers so the shaft does not collapse.

How to get the right size

A tall riding boot is not chosen by shoe size alone. Three measurements are needed, and this is exactly what prevents the most returns:

  • Foot length, from toe to heel while standing.
  • Height, from the ground to the hollow behind the knee.
  • Calf circumference, at its widest point.

Measure yourself wearing your riding breeches, not jeans or bare legs: the difference is several centimeters and is the most common reason a boot does not close. Do it in the afternoon, as the foot and calf swell during the day.

Sizes for this model: 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40.

Several brands manufacture the same model in different shaft widths as separate references. If the calf circumference is tight, look for the wide version before going up a shoe size.

Leather gives slightly in circumference with use and the shaft drops a few millimeters when the ankle creases form, but it does not give in foot length: do not compensate for a short size hoping it will stretch. If in doubt between two, choose the larger one.

Frequently asked questions

Why do riding boots have a heel?

It is a safety measure: it prevents the foot from sliding through the stirrup.

Do they stretch?

Leather gives slightly in calf circumference with use and the shaft drops a few millimeters when the ankle creases form. They do not give in foot length, so do not compensate for a short size hoping they will stretch.

Which size should I choose if I am between two?

In general, the larger one: a tight boot in the foot cannot be fixed with use. If the problem is the calf circumference, see if the model exists in a wide version.
