How to get the right size

A tall riding boot is not chosen by shoe size alone. Three measurements are needed, and this is exactly what prevents the most returns:

  • Foot length, from toe to heel while standing.
  • Height, from the ground to the hollow behind the knee.
  • Calf circumference, at its widest point.

Measure yourself while wearing your riding breeches, not jeans or with a bare leg: the difference is several centimeters and is the most common reason why a boot won't close. Do it in the afternoon, as the foot and calf swell during the day.

Sizes for this model: 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40.

Several brands manufacture the same model in different shaft widths as separate references. If the calf circumference is too tight, look for the wide version before going up a shoe size.

Leather gives a little in circumference with use and the shaft drops a few millimeters when the ankle creases form, but the foot length does not stretch: do not compensate for a short size hoping it will stretch. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Care

Remove mud immediately after riding, before it dries. Clean with a damp cloth and, occasionally, apply a specific leather conditioner.

Let them air dry, away from radiators and direct sunlight, and store them upright with boot trees to prevent the shaft from collapsing.

Frequently asked questions

Why do riding boots have a heel?

It is a safety measure: it prevents the foot from slipping through the stirrup.

Do they stretch?

The leather stretches slightly in calf circumference with use and the shaft drops a few millimeters as the ankle creases form. They do not stretch in foot length, so do not compensate for a short size hoping they will stretch.

Which size should I choose if I am between two?

In general, the larger one: a boot that is tight on the foot cannot be fixed with use. If the problem is the calf circumference, see if the model is available in a wide version.
