How to choose the right size
A tall riding boot is not chosen only by foot size. Three measurements are needed, and that is exactly what prevents the most returns:
- Foot length, from toe to heel and standing up.
- Height, from the ground to the hollow behind the knee.
- Calf circumference, at its widest point.
Measure yourself while wearing your riding breeches, not jeans or with a bare leg: the difference is several centimeters and it is the most common reason for a boot not closing. Do it in the afternoon, as the foot and calf swell during the day.

Several brands manufacture the same model in different calf widths as separate references. If the calf circumference is tight, look for the wide version before going up a foot size.
The leather gives a little in circumference with use and the shaft drops a few millimeters when the ankle creases form, but it does not stretch in foot length: do not compensate for a short size hoping it will stretch. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.
