Main features

  • Approved according to NF S72-800-2022, EN 13158 Level 3, and BETA 2018 Level 3.
  • Back protector with integrated airbag: eight times more protection than a protector alone, according to Freejump data.

Freejump care item for keeping equipment or the horse clean and inspected in the stable routine. Evaluate the size, material, and area of use to choose it correctly.

Next-generation protection

The Voronoï Carbon combines three barriers in a single structure, and this layered construction is what explains its impact resistance:

  • Carbon fiber outer shell. Layers of interwoven fiber, a high-tech material with exceptional impact resistance.
  • In-molding. A polycarbonate sheet overmolded onto the inner shell, adding another protective barrier between the outer casing and the EPS. Freejump took the idea from bicycle and ski helmets.
  • EPS core. The carbon and in-molding allow for the use of low-density expanded polystyrene foam inside, one of the most absorbent on the market. An integrated rib between the top of the shell and the temple area reinforces the structure and provides crush resistance well above the standard.
  • Temple protection. The Voronoï is the first riding helmet with temple protection. It is removable and can be reassembled.

Why it protects the temples

The temple area is where 80% of serious brain injuries occur. Behind the temporal bone lies the middle meningeal artery: a minor trauma can damage it, forming a hematoma and compressing brain cells. The Voronoï is the only helmet that treats this area specifically, absorbing the shock wave and distributing it over a wide surface.

Freejump recommends choosing the complete configuration, with temple protection, both for safety reasons and because it is the setup that allows the attachment of the Freejump Intercom by Cardo. If you choose the helmet without it, the temple protection can be added later.

Protection against rotational impact has been covered since the work of the WG11 group, without added artifices.

Lightness, ventilation, and comfort

  • Weight: about 500 g without the lower temple protection, with liner and long visor; about 600 g with it.
  • Ventilation: two inlets in the outer shell, front and rear, and 20 openings in the inner shell. The Voronoï pattern, with irregular geometric cells, is not just for aesthetics: each cell is placed to maximize both resistance and airflow.
  • Inner liner: high-quality Italian fabric. It is removable and washable at 30°C and must be air-dried.
  • An ABS half-moon clipped onto the front edge of the liner directs the airflow as it enters the helmet through two openings.
  • Customizable: shell, in-molding, ear loops, openings and their grilles, and visor.

Approvals and independent rating

  • EN 1384:2023 — current European standard, which replaces the 2017 one and incorporates the VG1.
  • ASTM F1163-23 (SEI) — US standard.
  • 3 out of 5 stars in the Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings, with a score of 4.21 in the evaluation published by the independent Virginia Tech laboratory, which is the one that subjects helmets to the most demanding tests in the industry.
  • Made in France, in Freejump's own workshop.

Size guide

Freejump sizes the X'Air Safe based on four body measurements (chest, waist, shoulder height, and waist-to-shoulder distance). This is their official table:

Head circumference (cm) Inches UK
52 20.47 6 ½
53 20.87 6 ⅝
54 21.26 6 ¾
55 21.65 7
56 22.05 7 ⅛
57 22.44 7 ¼
58 22.83 7 ⅜
59 23.33 7 ½
60 23.62 7 ⅝
61 24.02 7 ¾
62 24.41 7 ⅞

The Voronoï has three shell sizes (S, M, and L) and the fine adjustment is provided by the inner liner, which ranges from 52 to 62 cm. That is why the size is written by combining the two figures (for example, 56M is shell M with a 56 cm liner):

Shell Available liners
S 52 · 53 · 54 · 55 · 56 cm
M 55 · 56 · 57 · 58 · 59 cm
L 58 · 59 · 60 · 61 · 62 cm

Care and maintenance

Always consult the manufacturer's care instructions. If the product contains leather or technical materials, clean it with suitable products and let it air dry.

How to get the right size

Measure around your head with a soft tape measure, above your ears and across the widest part of your skull. The measurement in centimeters is what matters, not your usual hat size.

The S, M, L sizes of this model do not follow the contour indicated by the manufacturer. Measure your head and check the measurement against the brand's table before choosing.

A helmet must be firm and without pressure: it should not move when you tilt your head or rotate when you shake it. If you are between two sizes, the wheel or the rear adjustment system provides a range within each size.
