Head protection gear is mandatory for federation competitions. This model is approved according to the European standard EN 1384:2023—which replaces the 2017 version and integrates the VG1—and the American ASTM F1163-23.

Next-generation protection

The Voronoï Carbon combines three barriers into a single structure, and this layered construction explains its impact resistance:

• Carbon fiber outer shell. Interwoven fiber layers, a high-tech material with exceptional impact resistance.
• In-molding. A polycarbonate sheet overmolded onto the inner shell, adding an extra protective barrier between the outer casing and the EPS. Freejump drew inspiration from cycling and ski helmets.
• EPS core. The carbon and in-molding allow for the use of a low-density expanded polystyrene foam inside, one of the most absorbent on the market. A nerve integrated between the top of the shell and the temporal area reinforces the structure and provides crush resistance far exceeding the standard.
• Temporal protection. The Voronoï is the first horse riding helmet with temple protection. It is removable and reattachable.

Why it protects the temples

The temporal area accounts for 80% of serious brain injuries. Behind the temporal bone lies the middle meningeal artery: a minor trauma can damage it, forming a hematoma and compressing brain cells. The Voronoï is the only helmet that treats this area specifically, absorbing the shock wave and distributing it over a wide surface.

Freejump recommends choosing the full configuration, with temporal protection, both for safety reasons and because it is the setup that allows for the attachment of the Freejump Intercom by Cardo. If you choose the helmet without it, the temporal protection can be added later.

Protection against rotational impact is covered since the work of the WG11 group, without added artifices.

Lightweight, ventilation, and comfort

• Weight: approx. 500g without the lower temporal protection, with liner and long visor; approx. 600g with it.
• Ventilation: two inlets in the outer shell, front and rear, and 20 openings in the inner shell. The Voronoï pattern, with irregular geometric cells, is not just aesthetic: each cell is positioned to simultaneously maximize resistance and airflow.
• Inner liner: high-quality Italian fabric. It is removable and washable at 30°C and should be air-dried.
• An ABS half-moon clipped to the front edge of the liner directs airflow as it enters the helmet through two openings.
• Customizable: shell, in-molding, ear clips, openings and their grilles, and visor.

The Voronoï has three shell sizes (S, M, and L) and the fine adjustment is provided by the inner liner, which ranges from 52 to 62 cm. That is why the size is written by combining the two figures (e.g., 56M is shell M with a 56 cm liner):

Care and maintenance

Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. If the inner pads are removable, they should be hand-washed. It is not recommended to use solvents or put it in a washing machine.

FAQ

When should it be replaced?

As a general recommendation, after any strong impact, a helmet should be replaced even if it shows no visible external damage. After several years of use (5 years is the standard reference), materials also lose their absorption capacity.

How is the head size measured?

With a soft tape measure, around the head, approximately 1 cm above the eyebrows and above the ears. The measurement in centimeters corresponds to the helmet size.

How is it cleaned?
