Manual for Galopes 1 to 4, the four introductory levels of the Rider Qualification Program (Galopes Program) of the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation. It serves to prepare for Galope exams and to follow riding progress from the introductory level.

What the Galopes Program is

The RFHE launched it in 2006. It is a training program for any rider, whether they compete or not and regardless of their age, that organizes equestrian education by levels, from initiation to high performance. The objectives, content, and evaluation criteria for each level are compiled in the Galopes manuals, the reference used by instructors. The regulations have been revised several times since 2006: your instructor will confirm what is currently evaluated at each level.

Who it is for

  • Riders who are starting out and want to take the Galope 1 to 4 exams.
  • Families following the progress of a young rider at their club.
  • Instructors preparing their students for evaluation.

Galopes 1 to 4 are common to all disciplines except Driving and Vaulting, so this manual is useful whether you later specialize in jumping, dressage, endurance, or another discipline.

What comes next

With the common Galope 4, you can access Galopes 5, 6, and 7, which are for technical improvement. In general, the RFHE sets Galope 5 as the minimum level to compete in official national-level events with a license. To continue, you have the Galopes 5-6 book and the Galope 7 book.
