How to get the right size
A tall riding boot is not chosen only by the foot size. Three measurements are needed, and that is exactly what prevents the most returns:
- Foot length, from toe to heel and foot.
- Height, from the ground to the hollow behind the knee.
- Calf contour, at its widest point.
Measure yourself with your riding breeches on, not jeans or bare legs: the difference is several centimeters and is the most common reason a boot does not close. Do it in the afternoon, as the foot and calf swell during the day.

Several brands manufacture the same model in different shaft widths as separate references. If the calf contour feels tight, look for the wide version before going up a foot size.
The leather yields some contour with use and the shaft drops a few millimeters as the ankle creases form, but the foot length does not yield: do not compensate for a short size hoping it will stretch. If you are between two, choose the larger one.
