Main features

  • Approved to NF S72-800-2022, EN 13158 level 3, and BETA 2018 level 3.
  • Back protector with integrated airbag: eight times more protection than a standalone protector, according to Freejump data.

Freejump care item to keep equipment or the horse clean and checked during stable routines. Assess size, material, and area of use to choose correctly.

New generation protection

The Voronoï Carbon combines three barriers in a single structure, and this layered construction is what explains its impact resistance:

  • Carbon fiber outer shell. Interwoven fiber layers, a high-tech material with exceptional impact resistance.
  • In-molding. A polycarbonate sheet overmolded onto the inner shell, adding another protective barrier between the outer shell and the EPS. Freejump took the idea from bicycle and ski helmets.
  • EPS core. The carbon and in-molding allow for the use of low-density expanded polystyrene foam inside, one of the most absorbent on the market. An integrated rib between the top of the shell and the temporal area reinforces the structure and provides crush resistance well above the standard.
  • Temporal protection. The Voronoï is the first riding helmet with temple protection. It is removable and can be reattached.

Why it protects the temples

The temporal area accounts for 80% of serious brain injuries. Behind the temporal bone lies the middle meningeal artery: a minor trauma can damage it, forming a hematoma and compressing brain cells. The Voronoï is the only helmet that addresses this area specifically, absorbing the shock wave and distributing it over a wide surface.

Freejump recommends choosing the full configuration with temporal protection, both for safety reasons and because it allows for the attachment of the Freejump Intercom by Cardo. If you choose the helmet without it, temporal protection can be added later.

Protection against rotational impact is covered by the work of the WG11 group, without added gimmicks.

Lightness, ventilation, and comfort

  • Weight: approximately 500g without the lower temporal protection, with liner and long visor; approximately 600g with it.
  • Ventilation: two inlets in the outer shell, front and rear, and 20 openings in the inner shell. The Voronoï pattern, with irregular geometric cells, is not just aesthetic: each cell is positioned to maximize both strength and airflow.
  • Inner liner: high-quality Italian fabric. It is removable and washable at 30°C with air drying.
  • An ABS crescent clipped onto the front edge of the liner directs airflow as it enters the helmet through two openings.
  • Customizable: shell, in-molding, ear loops, openings and their grilles, and visor.

Approvals and independent rating

  • EN 1384:2023 — current European standard, which replaces the 2017 one and integrates VG1.
  • ASTM F1163-23 (SEI) — US standard.
  • 3 out of 5 stars in the Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings, with a score of 4.21 in the evaluation published by the independent Virginia Tech laboratory, which subjects helmets to the most demanding tests in the industry.
  • Made in France, in Freejump's own workshop.

Size guide

Freejump sizes the X'Air Safe based on four body measurements (chest, waist, height by the shoulder, and waist-to-shoulder distance). This is their official chart:

Head circumference (cm) Inches UK
52 20.47 6 ½
53 20.87 6 ⅝
54 21.26 6 ¾
55 21.65 7
56 22.05 7 ⅛
57 22.44 7 ¼
58 22.83 7 ⅜
59 23.33 7 ½
60 23.62 7 ⅝
61 24.02 7 ¾
62 24.41 7 ⅞

The Voronoï has three shell sizes (S, M, and L), and the precise fit is provided by the inner liner, which ranges from 52 to 62 cm. This is why the size is written by combining the two figures (e.g., 56M is shell M with a 56 cm liner):

Shell Available liners
S 52 · 53 · 54 · 55 · 56 cm
M 55 · 56 · 57 · 58 · 59 cm
L 58 · 59 · 60 · 61 · 62 cm

Care and maintenance

Always consult the manufacturer's care instructions. If the product contains leather or technical materials, clean it with appropriate products and allow to air dry.

How to get the right size

Wrap a soft measuring tape around your head, above the ears and around the widest part of the skull. The measurement in centimeters is what matters, not your usual cap size.

The S, M, L sizes of this model do not refer to the circumference indicated by the manufacturer. Measure your head and compare it with the brand's chart before choosing.

A helmet should fit firmly without pressure: it should not move when you nod your head or rotate when you shake your head. If you are between two sizes, the rear adjustment dial or system provides room within each one.
