PLUME is a new generation of equestrian protection. Its construction, with no inner chamber and no seams, redefines what you can expect in lightness, comfort and safety. It is the winner of the SPOGA Innovation Award 2026 in the equestrian industry.
It weighs at least 25% less than a traditional airvest. It is made from a multilayer textile with no inner air chamber, assembled by ultrasonic welding: the result is an ultra-thin, breathable vest with exceptional freedom of movement.
A different generation of airbag
The PLUME has no tubes and no seams. Instead of the conventional inner chamber, it uses a multilayer textile welded by ultrasound. The result is a very thin, breathable vest, at least 25% lighter than a traditional airbag.
It is the winner of the SPOGA Innovation Award 2026 in the equestrian sector.
Safety and certification
France is the first country to adopt a standard regulating the manufacture of riding airbags as personal protective equipment. Pending European harmonisation, the NF S72-800-2022 standard sets strict criteria for protection area, inflation speed and impact testing.
Its ultra-fast deployment — 90 milliseconds in size M — exceeds the requirements of the NF S72-800-2022 standard.
Protection and fit
It has an inflatable collar that reinforces protection of the cervical spine in combination with certified helmets, and covers the vital areas: chest and vital organs, nape of the neck, spine and lumbar region. Its ergonomic design comes in men's and women's cuts for a precise fit. Everyday adjustment is done with its strap system.
Manufacture and care
PLUME is designed and made 100% in France, in Freejump's workshops in Bordeaux, using French textiles. Every unit is tested individually.
It is machine washable if you follow its care instructions carefully. It is compatible with more than 20 brands of jackets.

How to choose the right size
The Plume is made in a women's cut and a men's cut, and each has its own measurements: they are not equivalent. These are Freejump's official size charts.
How to measure: height is your standing height; chest is the maximum horizontal circumference, measured standing and breathing normally, with the tape passed under the armpits and shoulder blades; waist and hips, around their circumference; and back length, at the back, from the waistline to the shoulder line.

The cartridge is the gas canister that inflates the vest, and it must be replaced after every deployment. Check which one you need before buying spares: depending on the size it is 45, 50, 60 or 85 cc. Freejump gives a 4-year warranty on its cartridges.
Frequently asked questions
Is it worn over or under clothing?
It is worn on top: over a thin layer of clothing — T-shirt, sweatshirt or thin jumper — or over a jacket.
Does it need recharging after deployment?
Yes. The gas canister must be replaced after every activation. Freejump sells the specific replacement cartridges for each model.
What happens if I fall wearing it?
The vest inflates when the safety lanyard that connects it to the saddle is pulled free. After a heavy impact, the equipment should be checked following the manufacturer's instructions.
Why does it weigh less than a normal airbag?
Because it has no inner chamber or tubes: it is a multilayer textile welded by ultrasound. According to Freejump, it weighs at least 25% less.
Can it be machine washed?
Yes, with the Freejump washing kit, on a delicate cycle at 30 °C and with HEY TEX WASH detergent. Freejump recommends a maximum of 10 machine washes over the vest's lifetime.
How long does it take to inflate?
90 milliseconds in size M, better than NF S72-800-2022 requires.
