The Equithème Wings is a riding helmet available in four finishes: matte black, matte black with rose gold, glossy black, and glossy black with sparkles.
It features the MIPS system, designed for oblique impacts, which are the most common type of impact in real-world falls.
What is the MIPS system
MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System. It is a low-friction inner layer that allows the shell to move a few millimeters relative to the head during an impact. Most falls are not perpendicular but oblique, and it is in these cases that this small amount of clearance helps reduce the rotation transmitted to the skull. This is a licensed technology: only helmets that incorporate it from the factory carry it.
Approval
The approval for each helmet is printed on a label inside, along with the manufacturing date. It lists the standard and the certifying body; this is the information your federation will ask for, and it is worth checking upon receipt.

How to choose the right size
Wrap a soft measuring tape around your head, above the ears and across the widest part of your skull. The measurement in centimeters is the one that counts, not your usual hat size.

A helmet must be firm without pressing: it should not move when you lower your head or rotate when you shake your head to say no. If you are between two sizes, the rear adjustment dial or system provides leeway within each size.

When should a helmet be replaced?
After any strong impact, even if nothing is visible on the outside: the cushioning material works by deforming and will no longer protect you the same way. Over the years, it also loses absorption capacity even if it has never been dropped.
How is it cleaned?
The inner padding is usually removable: wash it by hand with warm water and mild soap and air dry it. The shell should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. Never use solvents or a washing machine, and never dry in direct sunlight or with heat.
